How do online sessions work? +
All sessions are online, over Zoom or Google Meet. I use digital whiteboards, shared iPads, and collaborative tools so students are actively writing and solving problems in real time, never just watching a screen.
What if my child has been told they're "bad at math"? +
I don’t believe anyone is inherently bad at math. Usually, when a student is struggling, it’s simply because there are a few hidden foundational gaps, often in core algebra mechanics, that make advanced math feel impossible. Once we target and fix those specific gaps, the confidence shifts completely.
Do you work with students who are already ahead? +
Absolutely. For advanced students, the standard school curriculum can feel slow or uninspiring. I treat math as a flexible, creative language with multiple ways to solve a problem. I love helping advanced students push past rote memorization and build the deep structural fluency they need to excel in honors tracks and college-level STEM coursework.
What ages and grades do you teach? +
Middle school foundations (grades 6-8), high school honors and AP tracks (including intensive Algebra 2 and Calculus prep), and undergraduate college math.
What curriculum do you follow? +
Rather than forcing a single rigid textbook, I use a diagnostic approach tailored to your child’s goals. If they’re prepping for a specific AP track or college placement, we align directly with those requirements. My core focus is always on building the structural framework and fluid mechanics, like limits and differentiation, so students can confidently handle whatever curriculum their school uses.
How long until we see results? +
Every student’s starting point is different, but parents usually notice a shift in confidence and attitude within the first three to four weeks. True fluency takes time, but once we isolate the foundational gaps and start running targeted mechanics drills, the relief from math anxiety happens relatively quickly.
Can my child try a session before committing? +
Yes. I offer a free 30-minute diagnostic session for every new student. This lets me assess their current mathematical framework, pinpoint foundational gaps, and make sure our teaching styles are a good match before you commit to anything.
How do you handle missed sessions? +
Consistency matters for learning math, but I know family schedules get busy. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, and we can easily find a time to reschedule. For unexpected, last-minute absences, we can discuss makeup options or shift to an online session for that week.
